Who are some of your rugby idols, and why?

John Smit- His role as a leader on and off the field. His knowledge of the game as well as his playing style was an inspiration to how I view my playing style.
Akker Van Der Merwe - He is just an absolute beast on the field. From running with the ball, tackling, lineouts.

What advice would you give to young players who are just starting out in rugby?

Never stop trying to learn new things and new ways on bettering your own game. Always try and improve because then you will always enjoy your game by seeing yourself get better and succeeding.

What makes this team special?

We all have the same goal, whether guys have played for years, or they have recently started playing. We also all come from different backgrounds and that does not matter when we all are training and playing together.

Why Masiphumelele Rugby Club?

I went to high school in the valley which was a major role why I came back to play in the valley but also the fact that guys play for the love of rugby and not because they have signed a contract to say they will be paid to play at the club.

How has playing rugby shaped you as a person? What are some of the most valuable lessons you've learned?

Learning that mistakes is a part of shaping who and what you are. If you want to be better in something or want something to be successful then you cannot stand back and wait for it to happen, you need to put in all your effort and then results will show.

What made you decide to become a rugby player?

From having a rugby ball with me since the day I was born, placed in my baby cot in the hospital to us making sure we still do not miss a game on the weekend.
My family's love for the sport is contagious.
