If private wealth management is the pumping heart of the Group, then the Spirit Foundation is its soul.
Firstly, we would like to thank our donors, supporters and most of all you, our Spirit colleagues for the tremendous support you have given to the Foundation. It’s seldom mentioned but we wish to acknowledge the incredible work that our Chairman, Ian Kilbride, does behind the scenes to provide guidance, energy and counsel to all our programmes. Not to mention his ongoing personal financial commitment to growing the Foundation. Thank you Ian!
We will discuss the success of our programmes in far more detail in the forthcoming Spirit Foundation Full Circle, but will just touch on a few highlights for this edition of the Spirit Insider.
The Spirit Foundation Early Childhood Development programme has been a major focus of our work in Q2 and is set to become a central part of the work of the Spirit Education Foundation. Both Kapteintjies and Bonnie People ECD centres do tremendous work in the underserved communities of Bonnievale. Spirit Foundation’s support helps provide the youngest of learners with an educational start in life in a safe, healthy and nurturing environment. And while this is a long-term commitment, we can already witness the benefits the Spirit Foundation support has brought to the schools, learners, teacher and wider community.
The annual Spirit Education Foundation #Feet4Fees Fun Run was filled with energy, laughter, and purpose. To every runner, walker, cheerleader, and virtual participant who showed up to move for education: your support made a real impact. Every step taken helped break down financial barriers and open doors for students in need. A huge thank you to our incredible sponsors who helped bring the day to life.
In a new development in wildlife which we know will touch the hearts of many, since joining forces in 2024, the Spirit Foundation has become a critical ally in the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds' (SANCCOB) mission, helping to bring vital infrastructure projects to life, most recently the Warm Water Recovery Pool. This first-of-its-kind facility will provide an optimal healing environment for rehabilitating seabirds. How could we conclude the Spirit Foundation section of the Insider without profiling the success of the Spirit International Football Academy? Many of us in the Spirit Group are sportspeople or sports lovers and we often enjoy a banter about our respective codes, teams, clubs and provinces. But in SIFA we have a team and a programme we can all get behind. Combining quality education with nurturing soccer talent, the SIFA has emerged as one of the great success stories of the year. Unbeaten in every game this season, with some huge wins under their belt, SIFA itself is becoming a fixture in the soccer world for its unique blend of cultivating soccer talent while ensuring quality rounded education. Well done to the entire SIFA team – we are all so proud of you!
These are just a few highlights of Q2, but there will be much more packed into our stellar Full Circle publication in September, so please watch out for this and enjoy!
