Director of Mergers and Advisory highlights Q1 and momentum building

A strong start to the year
The M&A team has come out of the gates strong in Q1, setting the tone for what looks to be a very promising year. With over R2 billion in deals signed this quarter, the pipeline is well positioned for a solid Q2 as these deals move toward activation.

A standout moment was the signing of NBC Holdings at R1.2 billion — a significant milestone and a clear reflection of the level the team is operating at. It’s not just about the numbers, but the consistency, focus and intent behind them.

Big wins & individual highlights
This quarter also delivered some impressive individual achievements. A special mention goes to Pieter Crous, who reached the first-ever 24 QMI target in a single quarter — setting a new benchmark for the team.

Achievements like this don’t just move the needle, they raise the standard for everyone and show what’s possible with the right focus and drive.

Team changes & growth
There have also been some exciting changes within the team. Craig Holmes has stepped into his new role as Regional Manager in Gauteng — a well-earned move and a great step forward.

We’re also glad to have Werner Jonk back in the team as M&A Manager in Durban. At the same time, we said goodbye to Paul Scheepers, who has decided to pursue a new opportunity. We thank him for his contribution and wish him all the best going forward.

Gauteng is very excited and honored to welcome GB Jordaan to Warwick Wealth as an Advisory Partner. We believe this will be the start of a strong and successful partnership.

Sharpening the approach
Development continues to be a big focus. The team had another session with Andy Preston, building on key skills that support better conversations and stronger outcomes.

At the recent M&A Conference, there was a clear focus from our CEO on getting the basics right — especially the first phone call and the first meeting. These moments matter and the team is putting real emphasis on showing up with structure, clarity and purpose from the very start.

Looking ahead
There’s a strong sense of momentum in the team right now. The deals are there, the focus is clear and the energy is right.

If Q1 is anything to go by, there’s a lot to look forward to in the months ahead.
