iCaddies

It’s been a hugely busy season, but April signifies the official end of the golfing season for many clubs. During this time, clubs are bustling with activity as they undertake essential maintenance tasks such as hollow-tining (essentially aerating and improving the health of the greens) and scarifying (removing dead and unwanted material from the fairways).

This period of downtime is also an opportunity for clubs to organise their annual team-building events, fostering camaraderie among staff while ensuring that facilities receive the necessary upkeep.

Both caddies and staff are taking a well-deserved break, preparing themselves for the quieter and often challenging winter months ahead. But before the break, we feature some of the successful events supported by iCaddies

2025 Rose Bowl Cup (31 March – 01 April) Durbanville GC

The recent event showcased the top 60 amateur U16 girls from across the country, all vying for the prestigious title. With much at stake, the top three competitors earned invitations to compete alongside the elite at the upcoming Investec SA Ladies Open, set to take place at Erinvale.

In line with strict regulations, GOLFRSA ensured that only accredited caddies from iCaddies were permitted to assist the young golfers throughout the tournament. Over the course of two days, a total of 50 caddies were employed, with the first day featuring an intense 36 holes, followed by 18 holes on the second day.

Investec SA Ladies Open 10 -13 April 2025 (Erinvale Golf Estate)

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Hottentots Holland Mountain range and the picturesque False Bay coastline, all eyes were on Erinvale Golf Estate as the Ladies Tour culminated in this prestigious Sunshine Tour event.

A remarkable 120 ladies from around the globe qualified to participate, and we at iCaddies were honoured to be appointed as the preferred caddie management service provider for the occasion, supplying local amateur caddies to golfers upon request.

Our caddies faced off against some of the finest professional caddies on the ladies’ tour circuit, demonstrating their skills with an impressive ten caddies making the cut. Special recognition goes to Fuzi Mgede (Metropolitan GC), Jonathan Leonard (De Zalze), and Raymond Theunissen (Devonvale GC), who all achieved top 10 finishes.

These talented caddies proved they can compete with the best, with Fuzi Mgede clinching the winner’s title, while Jonathan secured fifth place and Raymond tied for sixth. With over 30 local amateur caddies showcasing their expertise, the gentlemen truly made us proud throughout the event.

This year marks the second consecutive occasion that one of our supplied caddies has walked away with the title, reaffirming that through our programme, caddies can reach new heights.

In a heartfelt moment during her televised post-match interview, winner Perin Delacour expressed her gratitude to Fuzi, praising his extensive knowledge of the game and his calm demeanour during the high-pressure final rounds.

So, dear readers, look out for our remarkable iCaddies next time you book your round of golf and experience for yourself the difference they can make to your game!
