“Great things in business are never done by one person, they’re done by a team of people”
– Steve Jobs
Though our region was a little slow out of the starting gate in 2025, we finished the quarter strongly with R 91 276 925 AUM submitted for the quarter. The lion’s share of the business flow came from the Garden Route area with all the teams contributing to a very successful Q1. In this regard, I must commend Mariza Langenberg, our Branch Manager in Knysna, on her management style and guiding the Garden Route Team to a great set of production results. She has shown that through setting the example, one can motivate and empower your staff to achieve greatness.
Our M&A Manager, Craig Holmes, tasted the fruits of his labour in Q1. Due to his professional efforts, along with the MD and the Director of M&A, Edward and John Dalton joined Warwick as Advisory Partners in Oudtshoorn as well as JD van Renen as a Merger Partner in Mossel Bay. Welcome both!
The region has been actively working on professional network deals and these gentlemen ensured that the region’s M&A pipeline has been filled to ensure a productive 2025.
In the Lifestyle Network, we continue to sponsor the follow bowling competitions running over several weeks in Gqeberha:
- The Woods Ladies Pairs Competition
- The Woods Men’s Pairs Competition
- Western Suburbs Mixed Pairs Competition
- The Walmer 8th Bowling Club weekly competition
Our region enjoys the benefits of staff continuity and experience, with Marlene de Jager promoted from Assistant Ram in the Knysna Office to CRO to team Langenberg.
Staying with personnel matters, we celebrated several birthdays in the first quarter. Eurika Louw celebrated her birthday on16 February and Jarred Roberts turned 30 on 7 March. Special mention must be made of Monty Ware, Warwick Wealth’s first ever Merger Partner, who turned 80 on 1 April.
For Warwick Eastern Cape and Garden Route, our future looks bright going into the next quarter. The Van Renen merger has commenced very well, and the Dalton Advisory agreement will commence shortly. The M&A team continues to open professional network doors and Craig endeavours to increase Warwick Wealth’s footprint in the broader Eastern Cape.
I would like to commend and congratulate every one of my team on a successful Q1. It was certainly a great start to the year with some standout performances. My challenge to my team for Q2 is to build on our successes and from our lessons learnt over the last three months, work as a team and inspire each other to achieve success.
